I intend to use Vodburner to do video “interviews” with the manufacturers of recumbent bikes and bits, and then after post-production, run them as videos on our blog.
we are in Cape Town and 2 grandsons (10 and 7) in Washington DC. We have a lengthy skype call every weekend. I record “important” clips such as “smell my breath, Poppa, have just cleaned my teeth”! and song and trumpet solos. A record of a family growing up!
The clips are short and I’m still improving my skill.
Have got the hang of it but not sure how I stitch the clips together.
Off to DC next week. I think I will have a problem to get my daughter to take up Vodburner as she is a Mac “nut”.

I loke the program and it does record but i guess to console to complete and edit the video files is not part of the free program, right? So I can record and save the files but I can’t do anything with them? Please let me know if I missed somethiong in the installation of the free program that will let me actually finish and watch what I’ve recorded….thank you! J. Duro
Hi J Durow,
Yes, editing and completion is part of the free program. Go to the “Previous Calls” tab and select the call you want to view / edit. Then click the “Edit” button. Please note that after the initial 30 days, a VodBurner watermark and intro will be added if you are using the free version. These don’t appear in the paid version.
Firstly well done guys a great inovation. I intend to use this as a further inovation within my business which is Online Training.
At the moment I am experiencing some issues with conflict with Skylook (which I use to record conversations and cant really disable it as not ever one has video) and also I am not quite sure how I will handle some of the files due to size. I intend to Video stream back into the Learning Management System the videos and as such will be looking also for cost effective ways of achieving this
Once again well done a top inovation

For your situation I recommend you turn off the automatic recording option in VodBurner. (Options > Configure > Recording, uncheck “Start recording automatically…”).
When you have a video call you want to record, Skylook will automatically start recording as usual, but you can click the Stop button in the Skylook call window. Then go to the VodBurner window and click the Record button.
The files VodBurner produces are very large. There are some good technical reasons for this. To sum them up, it’s a trade-off between CPU-usage and hard disk storage. VodBurner aims for extremely low CPU usage, because any overhead on the CPU will impact call quality. We opted to live with high hard disk storage in order to have minimal CPU impact. So yes, you will need to find plenty of space, or install an external hard drive to store your calls. Please note however that once you have completed editing and production of the final video, you can safely delete the *.vbc files and the *.asx files from your disk to reclaim space.
Hope that makes sense – if you have any further questions please let us know.
Hi Rob,
Blog looks great!
Yes you can record to an external drive. Go to Options > Configure > Recording, change the “Folder to store recordings in” to a folder on your external drive, then click OK.

Is there a way to have the origial .vbs and .asx files record to an external drive directly rather than use C: and have to move them?
Thanks,
Rob
P.s. Two vodburner/Skype interviews are up on our blog… technology is great, videographer is still learning!
