Click here to download VodBurner for Mac.
VodBurner for Mac records Skype video and audio calls. To use it you will need Mac OSX 10.7 (Lion) or later. You don’t need to have Skype installed, but if it is, that is fine also.
Once you’ve installed and started VodBurner for Mac, just sign in with your existing Skype account. (If you don’t have a Skype account you will need to install Skype and use it to set up an account).
When you sign in for the first time there will be a short delay (around 30 seconds) while VodBurner initializes your settings.
After this will see your Skype contacts listed. To make a call, move the mouse over the contact so that the green call button appears, then click it to make a call. Alternatively, if someone calls you, you will see an “Answer” button.
Once the call is started you will see a video window showing you and the other party. Move the mouse over the video window to see the recording controls. Click the large record button at bottom center of the window to commence recording.
VodBurner will record the window exactly as you see it (except for the recording controls of course). You can control who appears, and where, by clicking the small cogwheel icon, and choosing the “Show>Layout” menu item. You can also control whether the video is zoomed or letterboxed by choosing “Show>Zoom”.
To finish recording, click the stop button, or click the red hang-up button to finish the call.
After the recording is stopped, you will see a triangular “play” button in the contact list, next to your contact. Click it to bring the recording up in the Mac Finder. Double-click the file in Finder to play it back in QuickTime or other default player.
You will notice that the recording is in MOV format. VodBurner can also create MP4 and M4V files (as well as M4A and WAV if you only wish to record audio). These options are available under the cogwheel icon mentioned above: under the Format submenu.
If you have any questions or issues, please contact VodBurner support.
I just downloaded VodBurner for mac and whenever I try and sign in, it says unable to sign in…I exited out of skype and keep trying but i keep getting the same response. Any help?
Hi Owelson,
Update 11th August 2014 – Microsoft / Skype have now withdrawn support for SkypeKit – the technology we used to build VodBurner for Mac. As a result of this, you can no longer sign-in to VodBurner for Mac unfortunately. Note: our Windows version of Mac is not affected. There is a petition to get Microsoft to reconsider their decision, along with more details about the situation at http://www.vodburner.com/mac
We apologise to all our VodBurner for Mac fans.
The application continuously gives the error “unable to sign in”. Have tried multiple screen names and have been logged into Skype each time. Using OS Lion and Skype 6.15. I’ve even searched for a way to force Skype to allow access and there is none that I could find. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Jeremy, Do you still have the previous version of Vodburner available? I have a Snow leopard 10.6.8, I know I can upgrade to Maverick, but I would like to wait. Thanks.
Hi KS, Sorry but at this point VodBurner for Mac is for Lion and Mountain Lion only.
Hi there, thanks for creating such a straightforward program. Exactly what I needed to record Skype audio.
There seems to be an echo on the other speaker’s voice in all of my recordings so far (even though there’s no echo during our conversations). Any way to change this?
Hey clairesuellentrop, were you using a headset / earbuds when you were on the call? For tips on how to eliminate echo, please see http://www.vodburner.com/recording-both-sides-of-your-skype-call-at-a-consistent-volume.
Is there anyway to choose where the files are saved?
Hi, on our Mac version your recordings are saved in your User / Documents / VodBurner directory. In our Mac version there is no way at present to change this (you can however change this in our Windows version).
Will the other parties know you’re recording the meeting
Hi Matthew, It is up to you to tell them that you are recording. There is nothing in our Mac version which indicates that the call is being recorded.
How do you convert to an MP3 file? Where are the MOV files saved on my mac?
Hey Ellen, VodBurner for Mac saves your recordings in your Documents > VodBurner directory.
You choose which format you want to record to via the cog on the bottom left of the recording panel when recording a call (VodBurner supports the M4A and WAV audio formats). If you want to convert your MOV recordings to MP3, you can do this after the fact. Here is how you can convert MOV to MP3 with iTunes:
Open iTunes. Drag the mov into the iTunes window, and the Advanced menu and choose the File option, then select convert selection to mp3. Now, select the converted file (you can find out which one by pressing command+i on the song and under the info box it will say mp3 or mov) and then press command+r and it will take you to the mp3.
Can you email the MOV to someone else after you record it?
Hi Liz, sure, you can email the MOV file after recording it. VodBurner doesn’t offer the emailing part but any mail app will let you do this.

So, I just did a VodBurner call but it didn’t record anything. It’s on my MAC, but the call said “not recording.”
Hi Shari, VodBurner for Mac will say “not recording” if you haven’t clicked the recording button. Did you click the recording button to commence recording?
please inform me about when i could expect to get vodburner for my mac?
